In the morning a while fishing whitefishes, NF. After the breakfast others went pikehunting and ktl checked new possible whitefish places, both teams had only bites. In early evening fishing an old whitefish place. Results: Osku and Nikolai 3 fishes each, ktl 2 and Petrus NF.

Casting wobblers near the spawning places of pikes. Normally these places are good at this time of the year,  just when the ices are gone. Every year they catch big ones, up to 8 kilos, too. 3-4 kilos pikes are quite common. This time there were no giants to disturb my fishing, Anyway I caught two a bit over one kilo fishes. Water level has been really low all the springtime. The traditional spawning places are now dry.

In the afternoon two hours fishing pikes. Osku 2,5 kg, Petrus and Ktl a bit under two kilos, all released. Niku with a fly a four kilos pike, which we have to eat. The fly was deep in the throat. Only one whitefish. The evening was calm and quiet.

Heavy, almost stormy wind (20m/s) spoiled the fishing today. Total NFs.

Eveningfishing with Mikko from Vaparetket co. Saldo NFs. We saw three tailing fishes, but they were too far away, about 50 meters from us

Today 10 pikes 2,0-5,1 kg with wobblers, seatrouts are still missing. Of four fishing boats ours was the only one to catch fishes. All models of wobblers were good, only you had to reel them really slow. The wind was eastern and southern. The whitefishes are here!

In Thursday 2 pcs 2,5 kg pikes and some lost ones. In Friday 11 pikes 2 - 7.2 kg. Nice weather, sunshine and proper wind.

Fishing the morningtime. Some seatrouts we saw, but the fishes were reluctant to take our lures or flies.

The morning was calm. We saw a lot of seatrouts, following and tailing fishes. Jari caught with Biltema Spinnare a 4 kg trout and with Trout Quiverilla 43 cm fish. In the evening only some followers. With spinners some ids 400 - 800 g. Pingo flyfished a about 45 cm trout. Very cold northern wind.

Four men and four days of fishing seatrouts sailing between ices. We served all possible lures like flies, spoons and wobblers. Not a bite. Perhaps the fishes are in a inner archiepelago.

In the morning flyfishing  Haihu-rapids. The water level was good, I could even fish the small tributaries. In the wintertime they had remodelled the river and now it looks good. There are now a lot of places for fishes to hide in. I caught one rainbow in this new area and two more from the lower parts of the rapids. All fishes were put into the river this year, size about 700-800g. The best fly was #2 pink-white zonker.

The springtime is coming and you can find it, when looking fishermen in every open water place trying to catch whitefishes. Some of them even get fishes like Janne Suikkanen, who today caught five good size whitefishes. I tried to flyfish them, but the results were poor, TOTAL NF. I met today two groups of troutfishermen, who were pulling their boats on the ice to the shore from the open water. They had fished Putsaari and Isonkari waters. No fishes, but excellent outdoor living. The weather was perfect.

One day waiting for the temperature to go down in the minus degrees. That did not happen, so I had to take my skis. Mostly moving was walking with poles. The trip was sweaty, but worth making. I caught my first burbot in this winter (about 50 g). Fishing 14 hours I finally got the pearl, a beautiful 400 g arctic char.

Spending afternoon in fishing whitefishes. We had heard, that in two days fishermen had not seen a head of a whitefish in this area. We fished from half past five till darknes. Only quater to nine it happened, when a small school of fishes came to the area. We had five contacts, of which two, half a kilos fishes were caught. Nine o'clock it was over, and we had only a beautiful sunset to watch.

In the morning we first checked up the bait hooks, one  1,8 kilos pike will make Heikki happy. Rest of the icefishing day went on to get experiences = NF.

Tenon Erakievari is a fishing camp with excellent guiding to finnish and norwegian highlands to fish arctic chars. I visited some hours now in weekend Luomusjarvi ( a lake) to test, how the fishes are hitting. I caught six chars and eight burbots, while having a nice sunbath, too. On the highlands there is very little snow, and you can drill the holes in the ice without extra shank in your drill. Transports you can order from  Tenon Eräkievari, call +358-16 676088. They arrange fishing trips to the famous Jiesjarvi in Norway, too.

The result of this day was 18 graylings, of which the biggest was 540 g. Not a sign of arctic chars. The lure of the day was Kuusamo vertical jig with white Power Bait Honey Worm. It was even better as living worms!

The opening of flyfishing season in  Vesa-, Riihi- ja Lehtiniemirapids of Aurejoki. Waterlevel was quite low and the color clear. Some adult stoneflies were flying
. With a large #2 streamer I caught two minor trouts. Juha's 46 cm rainbow took #2 streamer, too. It was in good form, apparently stocked last year.

In Lankoski-rapid the water conditions were perfect. A lot of 1,5 kg rainbows in the river. I hooked 11 of them. There was once again some magic in green flies...

Fishing whitefishes from 15-19 o'clock. The wind was nasty and spoiled a bit the fishing. I had two fishes, 400 and 500 g, Sauli NF.

The open water seatrout season is opened. The weather has been windy. Till now 15 trouts has been caught with spoon and 5 with flies. Last weekend two fishermen from Turku were flyfishing. Even if the weather was nasty, they caught a nice 1,8 fish and lost 5 trouts! Good fishing, if you think of the bad weather conditions. The water temperature is 1-2 centigrades, so the fishing is still winterfishing.

A day icefishing arctic chars. Our catch was only one small fish, but the locals showed how to fish chars. They took with special arctic char spoons really beautiful fishes, medium about 800 g, the biggest one 1300 g. The big ones only swam by our lures. I caught a one kilos burbot and lost a good size trout. Ice was thick enough, lucky the drill reached the water!  It was easy to walk around, because the snow was so hard, you could walk on it.

Velkua 8.4.
ktl,
Jari and Timo

A busy day in zander fishing. A lot of smallies, but legal size fishes were hard to catch. Jari 4, Timo 3 and ktl 1 fishes to take with. Some bonus was perches. The best lure was Kuusamo spoon Rasanen, 40 mm and blue color.

Perches and small zanders loved Pyry vertical jig.

Peimari 6.4.
MarkkuR and OlliT

Eveningfishing zanders on western part of Peimari. The hot spot, where we last time caught nice fishes, gave only some pushes on balance jigs. We tried a larger area and caught 10 zander, pitty, all were minors. Fishes were not in the hitting mood. In the evening there was still ice about 30 drill rounds, so it is possible to go icefishing next weekend, too. You need a good floating overall and you have to be careful.

Nauvo 3.4.
Ktl + co

In the morning at half past six o'clock again whitefish fishing. Stormy wind and snowstorm made fishing difficult. Till half past noon Jari and ktl two fishes, Vinska and Vesa one and Timo NF.

Ktl's fishes, the other to the pan and the other gets light salt on.

Nauvo 2.4.
Ktl + co

In the morning checking two whitefish places, no fish. In the afternoon icefishing perches. No real hit but anyway ower 10 kg, biggest  Seppos 400 g. In the evening one hour again whitefishing. Three pcs, biggest Jaris, 800 g.

Velkua 1.4.
Ktl,
Nikolai and Osku

Aprilfishing in the afternoon.Nikolai and ktl 2 legal size zanders and Osku one. Some small
ones, too, and about ten over 200 g perches. Blue balance jigs were best lures, no matter which company had made them. The wind was really nasty.

Osku and 38 cm legal size zander, It took blue Rapala balance jig.
