Icefishing perches in Granvik area. The
underwater hill by the boat route gave small perches (medium under 150 g)
5,5 kilos with balance jig. edustalla. Three minor zanders, too. At 13.00
the hit was totally over, other places did not give fishes either.

A short trip to icefish zanders. One legal fish 42 cm and six smallies. No
burbots to our team.

Fishing burbots. Pia´s style was unbeatable! She got malefishes 2,5 and
2,8 kg, the baits were smelts.

Kake, Pepe and Teemu
Three oldtimers and one beginner icefishing familiar places. Medium of the
fishes was small, about200 g. Pepe found in the morning a good hole, a
plastic bag full of nice size, 200 - 400g, perches from one hole. The
pearls of the day were again in Kake's bag, Half a kilos fishes. Anyway a
nice fishing day. We three oldtimers caught about ten kilos perches each.
The best thing was, that we got a new young member in our team. The
youngster caught 5 kg fishes and is now eager to ice-fish.

In the morning fishing the Kirjais-bay area with mormyskas. No whitefishes.
Only about twenty small perches (max 150g).
Rest of the day fishing the open water-area Gullkrona. No fishes on the
underwater hills. Kari caught 5 small perches in 12m water.

Two kilos filee size perches. Pasi N. caught about 15 kg. Six others
caught about nothing. Even perches need skills to be caught! With
Olli T. in some minutes in the evening 5 small zanders.

Perches in size 250g
about 8 kilos with a balance-jig. Fish were on the underwater slopes, not
on the hills. I lost an about 5-6 kg pike after ten minutes fight. Treble
Gamakatsu hook was broken so that two hooks were away! But I was calm...

Icefishing four hours zanders. Thec catch was only one under legal size
fish. They do not hit every day, anyway it was a nice outdoor day!

The first hole gave about 50 perches from 100 to 500 g. Ten of these
over 200 g I took, the rest back to grow up. Some empty holes round the
underwater hill, and then I found the fishes again. In one hour of fishing
I caught 30 fishes in nice size class, then came a ice-breaker boat and
open the route about 50 m from the fishing place. No more hitting fishes.
In the next hour only the small ones were interested in my lures. When a
big ship came I changed the place. On every underwater hill there were
small perches. When I came back I tested the first place again. Some good
one were now in the hitting mood. The saldo of the day: fishes in the size
to fry up 48 pcs, total weight 15,5 kg and the biggest one 680g.

Trying to icefish whitefishes (Lavaretus lavaretus). Everyone caught tens
of ruffes. Perches we caught over ten pcs. Whitefishes were not in the
traffic, only some we saw ahd had three hits. Ice about 60 cm, waterlevel
low (-30 cm) and snow on the ice 20 cm. The artificial maggots of Berkley
caught fishes in even tact with real ones. A whitefish accepted them , but
got loose under the hole.

In Kotkanaukko area icefishing zanders with old zander-masters. Nils
Master's green back and silver sides balance jig was as good as
traditional vertical jigs. 5 legal size zanders.

Perches were not in the mood, only about twenty fishes per man, and
medium about 100 g. This tells about poor hit, the best hole in the ice
gave only ten fishes, and everyone of them with different colored
balance jig. when you changed the color you always caught immeditely one
fish, and then only careful bites. What saved our day were zanders, even
if they were small ,too. Kake 11pcs ( 2 legal ), Kari 11 pcs ( 2 legal )
and Jukka 2 pcs. The biggest perch of the day had , again, Kake360 g.

Three hours of balance jigging, then the weather turned so nasty, I had
to go home. The catch: 3 perches and 3 zanders, of which two were legal
size. A good utility relation 2:3.
A tip: There is ice about 70-80 cm, so you
can drive by car on the ice!

Pena and Antero
Finally a bit warmer day. Icefishing zanders, but the results were poor.
Pena 2 legal size fishes and Antero some minors.
