We began to celebrate new already early in the morning. Our cavaliers were seatrouts! One alien, a rainbowtrout, made an invitation to dance, too. We had mighty dances with five seatrouts and this alien. The wind was heavy from west, but we found fishes on the lee sides. Fishes took not on lures, flies served slow enough were the hot choice of the day!

Ktl, Pete ad Markku

We began fishing a bit after nine o'clock in morning, so we misted the hot hitting moments of morning dusk. The weather was really nasty: It rained all day long like cats and dogs, and the wind turned to southwest and blew over 20 m/s. We got contacts with fishes all day long, but the real hit was on at 15.10, when  Pete caught his first  53 cm seatrout. The second 45 cm fish he had at about four p.m. Both fishes took on Blue Fox yellow-silver spoon Trophy Trout. Stomachs of trouts were filled with sticklebacks and small sandeels. During the day we saw or had contacts with spoon or flies with about 30 seatrouts, so fishes were very actively hunting small fishes. The best time was the evening dusk, when we for instance saw three fishes to tail at the same time. One trout tailed about three meters from Markku's waders! Pete will have nice New Years bruch: Raw Pickled Seatrout!

Again hunting seatrouts. In the morning wind blew quite hard from north. In the afternoon it calmed down and in the dusk it was almost mirror calm. Jussi put in his bag a 50 cm trout already in the morning. Timo had to wait the dusk in the sunset time, when fishes came to shallow shoreline waters to hunt sticklebacks.

Pingo's small stickleback imitation fooled a 50 cm trout, which showed itself hunting small fishes. The trout had a mouthful of these delicacies, but still took the imitation, too. We saw many fishes in the darkness time, but our rod quides were freezed and the lines did not run correctly. So this way the fishes keep fresher!

The places were really perfect and nice for seatrout fishing. I got only experiences and a lot of fresh winter air. If the weathers are ok I will be there in sunday again.

Gullkrona 23.12.

After the nighttime storm we were on the shores of Gullkrona already before sunrise. It blew still heavy enough from northwest, but at noon the sea calmed down. This time fishes were as active as we fishers. Timo caught his first ever flyfished seatrout and lost a second fish just on the frames of his net. The fly of the day was Pingo's Tobis. Both fishes hit on the flies between the wading fisher and shoreline. Jussi caught two spinnfished trouts with Quiver Trutta lightened spoon. The bigger made a real jumping show, this helped on the frustration of many empty trips.

The crownings of the day were the majestic flight of sea eagle over us, and the whisker face of a seal looking at us. The more you give time for fishing more probably you catch something. I have been thinking, if I change the winter service of my boat as spring service, so open are the waters still.

It seems, that seatrouts love southern winds, even if those are almost storms. We caught two trouts, the other with green Zonker fly and the other with lightened white-yellow spoon Forelli.

Searching seatrouts all day longe. The water level was high, and in the morning dusk the sea was still calm. The wind got stronger during the day. I combined with freezing water and snow falling down made fishing interesting extreme sport. Before noon, when the wind was quite peaceful, I got a real Xmas hit. My Xmas fish will be a beautiful 62 cm seatrout, which was in perfect condition.

We had time to serve flies to seatrouts on ly two hours in the morning. The weather was better than earlier: wind from NW about15 m/s, but it still allowed fishing. The temperature was about one centigrade on plus side, so no problems of freezing lines. Our last session gave pure zero, not even a seen trout or hits.

The wind was once again heavy, but now it blew from such direction, that we could flyfish easier than last time. The water level was high and got even higher during the day. High waters are perhaps the reason, why this year has been better seatrout year than a couple of years ealier. We were really lucky! Three men fishing in storm and three caught trout is quite mighty catch!

Storm and high waves prevented still our sea trout fishing, so we went again fishing perches. The catch of the day was about two hundres perches, of which twenty, 350 -450 grams, fishes had to give their files to us. Timo gave one balance jig to make a pike´s jaws prettier. He also caught the only zander of the day (34cm). We had to finish fishing at four o´clock pm, when the big light was in off possession.

The storm prevented our seatrout fishing, so we went to jig zanders harling with wind from boat. We caught about three hundred perches of which we took  about twenty biggest ones, over 400 g, for our food. Two pikes vvisited the boat and three pikes took our balance jigs with them. Timo´s 36 cm zander was the only project fish during  the day from 9 am to 4 pm.

Fishing on the reel from sunrise to sunset. The wind turned during the day from NW to  SW. On the windy side it was only possible to fish casting, we could flyfish only the leeside. In the morning Ktl had a trout hitting twice on the same cast,  but finally it only showed its silvery side. A while later on a nice hit between high waves, but the result was only a large whire six feet from waders. Hundreds of casts gave today pure NF.

The catch of the day  23 pikes, of which the biggest  3,02 kg. The hit was poor, we got a lot of contacts, but not so many hooked fishes. The color of the day was difficult to find, but  Moykky digged once again with smelt colored  Kaimaani 8 pikes, when he did not had any other ideas of the colors.

Our project fishes were seatrouts. Looked in the internet the weather should have been ok, wind 8 m/s and a bit rain. The reality was something else: In the morning it rained like cats and dogs and the wind blew at least 15 m/s from west = just against us!

Of course we had windy weather equipments with us, we had only flyfishing tools with. Casting was difficult almost impossible. Even the water level was against us, half a meter too high.

A fisherman has always explanations, why fishes did not hit. This was ours!

Pikes were in the hitting mood. We had more happenings in the morning, when we fished windy places. Most of the fishes took Buster jerk baits, but some other lures gave fishes, too. The biggest ones were Jari's  7,57 and  5 kilos with Buster. My Phantom got a nice follower, but it did not take the lure properly. In the afternoon we fished calm places and the hit was poor.

Moykky and Jussi made in sunday again a pike trip. Result was  13 fishes, of which two were over three kilos. Smelt colored Kaimaani was once again catching, but other colors gave happenings, too. Pikes were in careful mood, boys had a lot of  hits without hookings. I and Moykky were on the ice again in the Independent Day of Finland, monday. The morning hit was poor, but the evening saved all. We made 22 pikes to visit on the ice and some extra were two 300 g perches. There was no need to drill new holes, so warm has the weather been recently. The best fish of the day was 2,6 kg, others were quite small. The hot color was "Viking Line" = red head white with black stripes. Brown with orange grub tail worked fine, too. Now we need more frost, otherwise the ices smelt away.

I friday we caught nine pikes. Saturday was better, total catch was 20 fishes. Six of them were over 3 kg and six 2-3 kg. The biggest ones were Jussi's 4,7 kg and Moykky's 4,2 kg. The hot lure was Kaimaani balance jig in smelt color and with orange grub jig as tail. The total catch of Kaimaani in this early season is now  105 pikes, of which  15 over three kilos.

We started the season exactly a week ago, now pikes are in real hitting mood. We have made four trips and the total saldo is nice: All together we have seen 76 pikes to visit on ice. The biggest is my 6,96 kg. Over three kilos fishes we have caught only nine pcs.
