The Sea Area of Uusikaupunki 31.10.
JaniO

First I flyfished seatrouts with poor results. Then I changed to pikeflies, and in an hour I caught three pikes and lost six.
Pikes were really in fighting mood, so this session was fun...

Taivassalo, Kaitainen 29.10.

, Mikko and Timo

We were on the sea at morning dusk before eight o'clock. The official weather forecast was again totally wrong. No sign of promised 12 m/s eastern winds. The sun was shining all day long, and wind blew mildly 0-4 m/s. The best lures were now greenish with a hint of red, big
(8-12 sm) balance jigs, and the method harling with the wind. Zanders were on the underwater slopes 7-12 m. The deepest area in the middle was quite quiet, and in shallow shore areas (under 6 m) there were too many active perches, four pike visited our boat, too. We took legal size zanders with us  27 pcs, there were a lot of smallies in traffic, too. We were asked to show our fishing licences by fishing police! Nice thing, that the control works in Kaitainen!!!

This weekend the weather was perfect! It is seldom, when you can fish at the end of october in weathers like these. And perches were in top hitting mood, too! In saturday I fished alonen. I found fishes in 5 meters depth. I can not say anything about grub colors, it seemed that fishes took all you sank to the bottom. In sunday Osku joined the team. Excellent hit was still on! We caught no really big perches. The biggest fishes were about 400 g. In sunday perches were in 5-7 m waters.

Kemiriver, Olkkakoski 24.10.
MikkoV

I decided to finish my opn water season by Olkkakoski (Kemiriver, 10 km upstream from Rovaniemi).ylöspäin). The weather was nice: cloudy and calm. I casted about an hour without happenings, but then I had a good hit on Reflex spinner. The fish was nice over 40 cm trout with red colored meat. They even have put salmons into this rapid area, we only need new good fish ladders in the river. Thanks to the guy, who helped me to land the trout in the net. This was a pleasent way to end the season.

, Kake and Jukka

We spent a day on the sea vertical jigging from the boat. This trip was my first to the sea in open water season. But never too late!  We caught ten zanders in size to make files, and double so many we put back to grow up. Our sidecatch was perches, pikes and Jukka caught a 1,5 kg burbot.

We spent the day of men on the Lake of Virala fishing pikes with my college and his son. We caught almost ten pikes (smallies), but Kalle made his new pike record and showed to us how fishermen do. It was a nice autumn day, almost calm, and we saw a lot of pikes hunting bleaks from the surface.

and Markku

I visited three hours in Lohenrengas with MR. Markku started with belly boat. Fishing two hours Kivijarvi gave to him one hit. I fished the bond around from the shore and had six hits, of which three rainbows visited my net. I caught the fishes with Boobies and Leeches. In dusk we tried on smaller bond Pompiainen, but probably the fishes were already sleeping.

Pyhamaa 17.-19.10

Our group was seven fishers, when we arrived to Iiro's holiday house.
Our weekend plan was to tickle pikes with flies. Eastern wind was quite angry, but that did not avoid us catching fishes. Flatnoses were in good hitting mood! We did not catch any monsters, the biggest, which visited our boat was Iiro's  4,5 kg pike. It took on a slinky fly colored dying parrot. Other working colors were red with black stripes and fluorescent green parrot. We lost unbelievable many fishes and had many followers, too. Perhaps every fifth fish we had possibility to shakes fins with.

Spending  a beautiful autumn day by the river with Veli Autti. Rainy autumn had  hold the water level high, so the conditions have been perfect for sea-run fishes like salmons and sea trouts. Till now they have caught many nice fishes in the river. The biggest salmon has been  9,2 kg. Jukka Rissalo from Koffi info showed to us a male salmon 11,9 kg, which was found dead under the lankoski dam. Water level is perfect, but there are so many fishers, that trying to catch searun fishes is not very easy. The best places are such ones, which do not have so big pressure of visitors. I and Veli we fished one secret place like that in the morning. Veli saw one salmon cruising and changing its place. I had one really angry,. We tried with different flies, too, but did not succeed to catch anything. There are a lot of rainbow trouts in the river, too. Some fishers caught them, but we were not lucky enough. We saw, when a school of rainbows swam up to the rapids. Our saldo was one minor trout, some perches and a lot of fresh autumn air. If the water level holds like now, there will be many fishes and fishers in the river. Whitefishes are on the way to the river, too...

Pellinki 17.10.
Pete and Fishing Team 822

The second day in Pellinki began really nicely. Olli got a 4,3 kg pike, which was  worth of a bottle of cognac. The lure was some Rapal, which we others had laught on. The fish hit in the middle of grasses in 1-1,5 meters depth. A couple of other big fishes followed to the boat, but did not hit on our lures. Some  2,5-3 kg fishes visited our boat. The hottest places were in the middle of grasses and stony shorelines. In the morning the wind was mild, and we caught larger number of pikes as yesterday. After noon the wind rose up to 14-15 m/s from east.

All together this was a good trip. Only we had to leave just when learned the hottest spots. The best lures were once again Zam in aland and blue colors  (19 and 14 cm) and Nils Masters 15 cm  with neon yellow back. Our total catch in two days was 86 pikes from25cm to 4.3 kg.

Once again the old proverb "big fishes with big lures" was wrong.

Kimito 15.10.

All day long trying to find seatrouts. The weather forecast promised over 10 m/s winds, of which I saw not a sign, but the sea was almost calm. The waterlevel was low and even got lower to 20 cm uder normal during the day. I did not see a fin about project fishes. Only perches disturbed this fishing day every now and then.

Pellinki 16.10.
Pete and Fishing Team 822

The catch of the day was 37 pikes, of which the bigest were 3,6 kg.  Zam  wobbler was the best lure almost in all colors. The weather changed during the day from sunny to cloudy. The show goes on tomorrow...

Taivassalo, Kaitainen 15.10.
Ktl,
Timo and Mikko

A new trip trying to catch zanders. This time we started early in the morning and were on the waters already at eight. In the morning the boat floated nicely with the wind, but them the wind rose up ovat ten meters per second. We had info from Timo's friend, that he has caught zanders with long nets in really shallow waters. Jigging these places gave nicely fishes to us, too. Today zander were either in over nine meters or under six, even in three meters. Balance jigs and verticals were today not as good as silicon grubs, of which number one was  Action Mag Grub 5" in color  fire pumpkin. I have to say, that we did not try so many alternatives today. A piece of smelt in the hook bettered the hit. Legal size zander we had in the cold box in the evening 18 pcs, the biggest 45 cm. About the amount smallies and just abouts we released. Even six pikes hit on the lures, and this time none of them succeeded to break lines. Mikko had with balance jig anice over one kilo id. Tens of perches visited our boat, too.

Taivassalo, Kaitainen 13.10.
Ktl
and Timo

We put the boat on the water along the congrete landing place of the Kaitainen kios, where the cost is ten euros. Early afternoon was jigging perches from anchored boat. Stripejackets were in reasonable hitting mood, the biggies over 400 g, but alot of smallies, too. Timo caught an id 1,5 kg.

After four o'clock we changed strategy and let the boat float with the mild wind.  Timo fishe dwith grubjigs and ktl with balance jigs. Finally we found our project fishes zanders, too. Total catch was six pcs, but only Timo's 42 cm fish came with us home. Some sidecatch were perches, one half a kilo bream, which hit on balance jig and of course pikes. Ktl got into the net a over four kilos sharp teeth, but the next pike took all when broke the line. Totally we had six pikes and two broke the lines. The best grub wasi Action 5'' firepumpkin and of balance jigs NIls Master 8 cm with green back yellow sides with red stripes. Both lures needed extra attraction from pieces of smelts.

Pargas 8.10.

Pikes were in reasonable hitting mood in Pargas. I had no really hot sessions, did not find the trick of the day. I fished different places with different techniques. Trying many different  lures I made ten pikes to visit my boat. A couple of them were 2.5-3 kg, and the first one was nice 7.3 kg, which hit on blue Zalt-Bomber wobbler. The photo is not very good, but I did not want the fish to suffer too long before releasing.

Ava and Bjornholma 9.10.
Ktl, Erkki, Kalle, Urpo, Seppo, Risto and Anssi

In the morning after seven o'clock we were checking, if perches have hunt on in the harbour. Hard northwest wind hold mouths of fishes shut and they were laying on the bottom. We caught anyway acouple of them and some nibbling fishes we found, too. After the breakfast ktl, Kalle and Urpo tried to fish from the shore  with no success. Neither flies or Storm suspenders woke any interest in pikes. Two boats jigfished under the Ava bridge to the noon. They caught about thirty fishes, of which we made files to take home with us. In the afternoon, when it was time to leave home, in the harbour there was a slashing show going on, when perches had woke up once again.

Bjornholma, Brandoby and Ava 8.10.
Ktl, Erkki, Kalle, Urpo, Seppo, Risto and Anssi

In the morning trying pikes in the hotel waters. Seppo had two under one kilo fishes. In the afternoon searching perches in Brandoleden with no success. One following about four kilos pike. In the evening at first under the big bridge. Anssi caught a minor zander. We had some perches, too. In darkness falling we found hunting perches in home harbour. Total catch a bit over one kilo files.

Two hours of jigging by the bridges. About 30 perches, biggest 350g, and one 41 cm zander.

Fishing a day with the students of Keo Karkku Outdoor Guide School. There were 18 students and as teachers
Kimmo Rintala andMikko Ollila. First in the morning we learned, which kind of equipments are needed in fishing, rods, reels and flyfishing tools. After the lunch we were on the lake all day long. Jigs and spoons got funny movements, when students trained how to cast. Some contacts we had with fishes, too, but not a fish ended to the boats. The weather was perfect autumn weather. We had a coffee break on the island  Oksalo. Other boats had caught fishes, too, so we could fry perches on open fire. The rest of the day we spent in slowly running streams of Kutala. Again we lost several pikes, which opened a conversation about leaders. We caught many perches up to the boats, so supper was secured. The catch was a bit poor, but the weather compensated that.

These waters were almost quiet. I made 5 pikes to visit my boat, and they all were small. Northern wind perhaps was the reason for poor hit. I wonder, where perches hide, once again I did not find them.

Pikefishing in perhaps the worst possible conditions: sunny and totally mirror calm. We caught quite many pikes, but all smallies, big ones hold their jaws shut. We found no hot lures even, if tried all day long. Perchfishing was really poor.

We tried to find zanders, which would hit on our baits. We were on the sea at 2 a.m. Baits, bleaks, we found easily in the harbour. Small perches hit on both brown grubs baited with a piec e of smelt and on living bleaks, no other colors worked. Timo caught with living bait a zander 900 g and 50 cm and the second one  42 cm with grubjig,  ktl caught with jig a  42 cm fish, too. All of us secured the membership of Buu-Club = caught a pike with jigging without strike leaders. The biggest was Mikko's over 2 kg pike. Mikko caught the biggest, about 400 g,  perch, too. zanders were not yet in schools, perhaps the water is still too warm, 14 centigrades.

Timo's nice 900 g zander took living bleak bait.

Mikko's over 2 kg pike had the fire pumpkin jig nicely on the jaws.
