               The Fly of May

                White Matuka

M
ay and june are the time, when large schools of bleaks rise up to the rivers. Big brown trouts love to eat these small fishes. With White Matuka it is possible to imitate bleaks to these hungry trouts. Troutfishing this time of the year is most effective late in the evening or early in the morning.

Base the shank with thread. Fasten the oval silver tinsel. Tie the body with silver flash chenille.

Take two (or 4) cock or hen feathers. Strip them so, that the tail is the length of the shank.

Fasten the feathers in front of the body so, that the shiny backsides are outwards.

Fasten the wing and tail combination with the turns of ribbing.

Tie red wool or feathers under the body to imitate gills.

Add to the wing two to four strips pearly flashabou.

Tie a nice collar front hackle with herls pointing a bit backwards

White Matuka:

             Str # 4-10
Rib:                 Oval silver tinsel

Wing and tail: 2-4 white cock or hen feathers
Throat:            Red wool or feather
