Hi everybody there !!

Great Internet magazine Congratulations!!
I live in Austria, I am brazilian and my wife is from Finland. I am a passionated fisherman and I was introduced to Ahvenamaa by my wife. I was amazed, and since than i just want to go back. I fish mainly in Lappo(Brandö), excellent fishing!! My record til now is 10Kg and 112cm a monster pike !!I I practice catch and release, and I have been several times to Lappo.

I have a question about fishing in Brandö: I would like to fish for seatrout and rainbowtrout, but i don´t now when, how and which equipements I should use. Can you help me?

Thank you very much !!
Fernando Paiva

Thank You for Your opinions Fernando!

I am sorry, but our english pages are a little bit freezed at this moment, because of translation problems. At the finnish sites You can read about seatrout fishing both autumn and springtime (frontpage). Ask Your wife to help You. The best seasons for seatrout are from mid april to mid july and from mid september till the ice covers the waters.

Rainbow trouts are not natural fishes in the Archipelago. They are always refugees from fishfarms. The last autumnstorms released some hundreds, perhaps thousands, of tons rainbows. At this moment, and I presume  about one year forward,  there will be a lot of rainbow trouts all over the Archipelago area.

Casting and trolling are good methods for both seatrouts and rainbow trouts. Baitfishing with worms or shrimps is effective for rainbows, too.

First: I hope today, monday 22.1., the first swedish sites are open. Our translator is very busy, so You have to be patient.

Second: I visited Your sites and found them interesting. I am sure, that finnish fly-fishermen find them worth visiting, too. I did not get the tying recipies open, but perhaps that was because of my limited PC-skills.

I am from Australia. I fish with my father-in-law for Redfin (Ahven) using short rods and Nautilus lures which we have to get people to buy for us when they visit Finland. I was wondering if you could tell me a site which sells these items over the Internet. My wife is Finnish but English language is preferred.

Robert Foulkes

Nautilus vertical lures are made by Puustjärven Viehe Ky in Vehmersalmi. Pitty, they do not have home-pages, but they recommended You to contact Healfishing Oy, which is a post-order and net store: www.healfishing.com (MD Heikki Hoffren e-mail: heikki.hoffren@healfishing.com ). You cannot find the Nautilus lures on their sites, but they have all sizes and colours in their store. Contact Healfishing Co and they will help You.

I enjoy your site.  I am a keen saltwater and freshwater fisherman from New Zealand.  I was introduced to your site by Roger Gruvsjo from Sweden.  We enjoy many hours talking fishing together.  I am always looking for new stories on your site.  Keep up the good work.

Bob Bevege

Thank You Bob!
Christmas and New Year was a holiday-time for us, too. In January You can read new stories about ice-fishing, and we start a fly-tying school for beginners. Advanced fly-tyers can read about flies, which were hot machines in summer 2000.
