          When Perches Play

Difficult In Jigging

T
ip
1: More taste

A
piece of worm or a thin slice of fishmeat on the hook makes perches more willing to take the bait. Leave the skin on the fishmeat, then the bait will hold longer.

Tip
2: Do not use swivels and use tippet leader

When perches are in the  difficult mood, they do not stand any noises, so tie the jig directly on the line. If you are fishing with microdyneema line, tie a 50-80 cm tippet leader of monofil. You loose a bit lbs, but add the catches.

Tip 3: Tune the swimming of the grub tail with lead and swivels

W
hen the jig has to swim just near by the bottom, use rigging like in the picture. First tie a lead with swivels in the main line, and on it a 50-80 cm leader of monofil. Use streamer flyhook; 4 " tail # 4, 3" #6 and 2" #8. Look, that the tail, grub or shad, is floating, and make it on the streamerhook. This method allows you to fish just near by the bottom.

Tip 4: Fish with a tail, which moves easily

N
ormal grubtail is not always moving enough, when the lure has to swim very slowly. In the picture is a grub with shadtail. It moves nicely with slow swimming, too. With the tail in the picture Seppo caught in Ava good size of perches, though the day was really warm, and the fishes were reluctant to take normal baits.
